Project Search

Since its inception in 2004, CIG has funded hundreds of projects, boosting natural resource conservation while helping producers improve the health of their operations for the future. Use this tool to search for CIG projects based on any of the criteria listed below.

CIG projects from 2004-2009 may be missing information in the following categories: Resource Concern (specific), Conservation Practice, Production/Use.

Laine Farms and NJ Audubon Society     |     NJ     |     2013
The goal will be to monitor fields, planted at different seeding rates of spelt, to determine bird use and breeding. An additional goal will be to monitor the yield of these fields to determine if certain seeding rates, although beneficial to breeding birds, may not be economically beneficial to producers to consider in their rotation. An analysis of the production cost/income of spelt as an alternate crop to production/income of warm season grasses (WSG) that are used for biofuels will be performed.

LSU AgCenter     |     LA     |     2013
Demonstrate the effectiveness of planting wheat in 'spin' ditches to reduce nutrient and sediment runoff
LSU AgCenter     |     LA     |     2013
Measure water quality of runoff from around poultry houses, demonstrate the effectiveness of in-house pasteurization, and train LSU AgCenter agents and NRCSs employees on the importance of these practices
Kansas State University     |     KS     |     2013
Quantify the impact of cover crops in no-tillage crop rotations in eastern and central.
Cornell University     |     NY     |     2013
To provide support to the NY NRCS Soil Health program by increasing local capacity for implementing winter cover crop plantings. To increase farmer understanding of soil health and adoption of winter cover cropping.
Stone Environmental, Inc.     |     VT     |     2013
. The APEX model simulates the impacts of alternative conservation practices applied across individual farms to help natural resource scientists conduct more efficient conservation assessments. This web-based modeling tool will be customized for Vermon+E21:K21t regional practices and data inputs.
New Jersey Invasive Species Strike Team     |     NJ     |     2013
The goal of this project is to facilitate improvements in the implementation of the Early Detection/Rapid Response (ED/RR) strategy used to stop the spread of emerging invasive species in New Jersey's natural and agricultural systems and prevent the spread of widespread.

The goal of this Conservation Innovation Grant is to manage fish wastes created by a fish aquaculture production through two filtration systems for purification of the water. The grantee proposes to incorporate a swirl filter with a growbed as the first aquaponic filtration system and then test it against a biological filter. In addition, since have both systems are available we would like to run them together in stages to determine the difference in clarity and cleanliness of the water between individual system's results. . The goal of this grant is to create a practice that can be used by aquacultural fish producers to treat fish waste and reduce water use. Resource concerns that will be addressed with these technologies include water quality and water quantity.
South Dakota State University     |     SD     |     2013
The project will demonstrate and evalaute drainage water management and saturated buffers.
