A New Management System for Drought Resilience on Northern Rockies Rangelands will create a transferable model of livestock management that maximizes drought resilience and range health in the Northern Rockies. In addition to soil and drought concerns, the project will address numerous ecological and social issues associated with ranching and grazing in the Northern Rockies region. The proposed project applies innovative concepts such as "rodearing" - a management-intensive grazing technology, together with other Holistic Management elements to mitigate the impacts of drought and other relevant agriculture concerns in the Northern Rockies.

This project will establish specific, detailed recommendations regarding the maintenance of populations of wild and managed pollinators that contribute significantly to the economic wellbeing
of Rhode Island agriculture. Our provisional list of target species includes apples, peaches, other orchard crops, blueberries, cranberries and vine crops. In collaboration with state-based experts and producers, we will identify key landscape and site features that
support managed and wild pollinator populations (e.g., areas of bare soil for digger bees, dead wood for carpenter bees), and make recommendations for producers and growers about habitat management activities the can use to support or enhance populations of these beneficial insects.
Hanover-Caroline SWCD     |     VA     |     2012
Hanover-Caroline SWCD and partners will illustrate and evaluate the innovative conservation technologies through at least 75 on-farm demonstrations involving multi-species cover crops and comparisons to show impact of cover crops on subsequent crop performance. Collection and analysis of data from these demonstrations will be paired with educational and outreach efforts targeting NRCS clients, including outdoor and indoor classroom presentations and technical reports.

Demostrate and quantify the impacts of reducing on-farm electric use by replacing old, highly inefficient cooling anf freezing equipment with new, energy-efficient equipment.

This project will provide local fresh produce to consumers throughout most of the year, directly through production in controlled chambers.

This project will evaluate and demonstrate a compost and heat pump based renewable energy system for greenhouses that displaces fossil fuel energy and meets certain on-farm energy needs, while increasing energy efficiency and/or reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Maryland Association of Soil Conservation Districts, Inc.     |     MD     |     2012
This project aims to provide outreach, technical and financial assistance to establish a Pollinator Grant Program. Five demonstration sites will be established in each region.

Fence Markers will be provided free of charge to landowners to place on 'high risk' fences.
Fence marker design and installation will follow USDA-NRCS guidelines based on the most
