This project will research the different USDA programs, private investment opportunities, foundation and other funds available to establish agroforestry in Iowa and the federal, state and local laws that protect such work in the short and long term. The project will provide user-friendly resources to producers and landowners including information on the different kinds of deed restrictions and easements landowners can explore, provide sample leases landowners can use with tenants and potential buyers, a resource guide, and an interactive web page.

However, in New Mexico, comparisons of compost, biochar, and bale grazing have not yet been undertaken. Understanding costs and equipment needs and learning how to monitor and assess outcomes for each are needed before local ranchers will begin planning for their implementation.
