This project will identify plants and collect seed for sage grouse habitat. Due to the decline of Greater Sage grouse populations it has been identified that the habitat needs to be improved and more available seed sources. The Plant Material Center will improve the adaptation of these species and make seed available.

This project will help disseminate the data information gathered in a previous CIG. Data was gathered in the economics in converting from high water usage crops to low water crops to be used for biodiesel and meal products.
Yuma County Conservation District     |     CO     |     2008
Trying to reclaim formerly sandy irrigated cropland. Lands had been tin corn and due to lack of irrigation water the producers are trying to convert the lands back to native grasslands and are targeting forage species that will benefit the greater prairie chickens and other wildlife.
National Fish and Wildlife Foundation     |     DC     |     2008
The purpose of this agreement is for NRCS to provide EQIP funds in the amount of up to $5,000,000 to the NFWF to assist with the delivery and management of competitively selected CIG grants in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, in accordance with NRCS direction and criteria.

Demonstrate two innovative options for reducing nutrient discharge from agricultural drainage channels. Project will implement treatment systems in areas of the Upper Choptank and Tuckahoe River watersheds that are fertilized with poultry manure.
University of Maryland Wye Research and Education Center, via NFWF     |     MD     |     2008
Establish 80-100 acres of switchgrass in riparian areas of the Chester River watershed. Project will evaluate biofuel production potential, changes in nitrogen inputs to shallow groundwater, changes in soil carbon storage, and impacts on bird Habitat.
Pinchot Institute for Conservation, via NFWF     |     DC     |     2008
Collaborate with national and regional experts to develop the Bay Bank, an innovative marketplace for ecosystem services. Project will connect landowners to non-traditional markets, including new forest conservation and carbon sequestration programs.
