Project Search

Since its inception in 2004, CIG has funded hundreds of projects, boosting natural resource conservation while helping producers improve the health of their operations for the future. Use this tool to search for CIG projects based on any of the criteria listed below.

CIG projects from 2004-2009 may be missing information in the following categories: Resource Concern (specific), Conservation Practice, Production/Use.

Anaerobic digesters can provide dairy farms with important benefits, but this processing of manure increases its level of ammonium - a greenhouse gas (GHG) that can be lost to the atmosphere rapidly. This project focuses on evaluating the potential of a low-cost digester effluent treatment system to shape best management practices for manure and nutrient management.
Benton Soil & Water Conservation District     |     OR     |     2009
This project aims to develop and evaluate a set of soil quality assessment and management practices (through the adoption of the Cornell University Soil Assessment Guide) that will aid organic producers. Validate Cornell's protocols to Oregon.
Bismarck State College Farm Managmentent Education and Morton County SCD     |     ND     |     2009
This project aims to increase organic matter and soil biology diversity on currently undproductive pasture soils using cover crops and livestock.
Board of Trustees of Illinois State University     |     IL     |     2009
The purpose of this award is to find an education demonstration project which transfers outdoor, aerobic, windrow compost strategies to livestock producers as an alternative manure handling adaptive management practice.
Brown SWCD     |     OH     |     2009
This project aims to demonstrate the effects of land management practices on soil and water quality specific to the Clermont soil series.
California Native Plant Society     |     CA     |     2009
This projects aims to establish knowledge of natural grasslands, associated plant communities, & invasive plant threats on grazing lands in California.
Cascade Pacific RC&D     |     OR     |     2009
This project aims to develop a model on-farm energy audit program for statewide use. Planning will incorporate energy assessment and audits.
Champaign County SWCD     |     IL     |     2009
Nutrient management recommendations for the application of phosphorus and potassium in Illinois have been developed based on conventional tillage systems. Currently there are no definite guidelines on soil sampling for phosphorus and potassium analysis of fields under conservation tillage systems such as strip-till and No-till. The purpose of this award is to research and develop methodology for soil sampling methods as well as recommendations for the placement of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers in strip-till cropping operations.
Clackamas County Soil and Water Conservation District     |     OR     |     2009
Implement a model large scale Rain Harvest System (RHS) that captures rainwater to be used on-site that will limit ground water withdraws.
Colorado Cattlemen's Agricultural Land Trust     |     CO     |     2009
This agreement is to provide financial assistance to the Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust to provide the final implementation of a biological inventory of southeast Colorado. Through this biological inventory, the ranchers of the area are allowing biologists to assess the natural resources that they have been stewarding for generations for the first time. This is a continuation of field work that began in 2009 with a final report to be issued in 2010.
